CSRI 2025
At the Center for Suicide Research and Intervention (CSRI), our mission has always been to ensure that no one struggling with suicidal thoughts or loss feels alone. In 2025, our primary focus is increasing our access, ensuring that anyone who needs support can reach us easily, quickly, and effectively.
Why Accessibility Matters
We believe suicide and mental health support should be available, inclusive, and responsive to the needs of every individual. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), Kenya has over seven hundred suicides annually; most of these deaths could have been prevented if only help was available. However, many people still face barriers such as:
🔹Limited access to crisis support; thus, many people do not know where to turn in times of distress.
🔹 Geographical and financial constraints that result in lack of services in some areas.
🔹 Language and cultural barriers
🔹 Stigma and fear of judgment that hinder people from seeking help.
These challenges cost lives. That is why, in 2025, we are committed to breaking these barriers.

How CSRI is Expanding Access in 2025
🔹 Community needs assessments: We are conducting surveys and focus groups to understand local barriers and co-create solutions.
🔹 Language & accessibility: Translating key resources into English and Swahili
🔹 Stronger Community Partnerships: Collaborating with schools, workplaces, religious institutions, and local organizations to make mental health support more accessible where people already are.
🔹 Expanding crisis support: Enhancing our hotline services and support groups, ensuring no call for help goes unanswered.
🔹 Volunteer & staff growth: recruiting and training more professionals to provide culturally competent suicide prevention and mental health support.
By the end of 2025, our goal is to have reached and supported thousands more individuals, making suicide prevention services not just available—but truly accessible to all. Together, we can create a world where everyone has access to the help they need, when they need it.
